Probiotic Screening Strategy for Creative Enzymes

Probiotic screening for creative enzymes includes two development strategies, including phenotype-based and target-based screening approaches.

• Phenotype-based screening strategy

Creative enzymes are screened based on the effects produced by cells and animals on microorganisms using in vitro and ex vivo cell cultures and animal models capable of providing immunological, neurological, metabolic or microbial data.

• Target-based Screening Strategy

We mainly use computer simulations to make predictions. Our predictive approach uses multi-omics approaches such as genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics and metabolic reconstructions that can infer the metabolic capacity of the screened microorganisms to assess the ability of probiotics to produce molecular effectors that can modulate host- or microbe-related signaling pathways.
