Akkermansia Strains
Akkermansia muciniphila is a bacterium of oval shape, strictly anaerobic, non-motile and gram-negative and forms no endospores. Akkermansia muciniphila is a bacterium of the intestinal tract that accounts for up to 0.5-5% of the human intestinal flora.
Akkermansia muciniphila is considered to be a promising candidate for probiotics. Researches have confirmed that Akkermansia muciniphila is low in several unhealthy conditions, such as obesity, diabetes, intestinal inflammation, liver disease or during chronic alcohol consumption. Reduced Akkermansia muciniphila disrupts intestinal barrier function, leading to elevated plasma endotoxin levels and ultimately low levels of inflammation and metabolic disorders. As a potential probiotic, it can make good use of gastrointestinal mucin, which is of great value in improving host metabolic function and immune response, and improving cancer treatment. Therefore, Akkermansia muciniphila is expected to be a therapeutic target for microbiota-related diseases such as colitis, metabolic syndrome, immune diseases and cancer.
As a leading probiotic developer, Creative Enzymes has invested a lot of effort and research in Akkermansia muciniphila research with the aim of providing our clients with high-quality Akkermansia strains and bringing this promising next generation probiotic strain to a wider range of applications.
