Acidipropionibacterium acidipropionici

Cat# PRBX-003
Description Acidipropionibacterium acidipropionici is a Gram‑positive pleomorphic bacillus and facultative anaerobe, capable of metabolically producing active substances such as propionic acid and γ‑aminobutyric acid (GABA). This strain up‑regulates the expression of genes related to intestinal aquaporins and tryptophan hydroxylase, stimulates intestinal enterochromaffin cells to secrete 5‑hydroxytryptamine (5‑HT), enhances intestinal peristalsis and increases fecal water content, thus exerting a laxative effect. It can up‑regulate the expression of brain‑derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) genes and, with the metabolically generated γ‑aminobutyric acid, exhibits potential for auxiliary memory improvement. Moreover, it inhibits the growth and hyphal formation of opportunistic pathogenic fungi, and up‑regulates the expression of intestinal defensin and mucin genes to strengthen the defensive function of the intestinal barrier. Capable of forming biofilms, the bacterial cells achieve enhanced adhesion and colonization on intestinal epithelial cells. It can be used for preparing foods and functional products for laxation, intestinal regulation and auxiliary memory improvement.
